VCAP6-CMA (Beta) Objective 7.1 – Deploy and Manage a vRealize Application Services Appliance - Part02

· Assign a user the necessary permissions to gain access to Application Services
· Install and set up the Application Services virtual appliance
· Configure Application Services to use a proxy
· Register a cloud provider with Application Services
· Map a cloud template to a logical template
· Map Application Services to a vRA reservation policy

I would be covering the last three objectives in this post

· Register a cloud provider with Application Services
· Map a cloud template to a logical template
· Map Application Services to a vRA reservation policy


Once the Application Services is successfully integrated we can move further with application configurations

 Register a cloud provider with Application Services

1. Login to appropriate tenant and make sure the user has all required Roles
2. From the dropdown select Cloud Provider and click on create Cloud Provider and then enter the details 
3. Click on validate connection and wait till it says successful
4. Now Add the Template (Windows or Linux Blueprint prepared for the Application Deployment)
4. Click Save to complete this configuration

Map a cloud template to a logical template

Logical Template is the mapping of Cloud Tempalate to the Blureprint of vRA. This requires you to already have Windows or Linux Template prepared with AppD agent installed and associated with the appropriate Blueprint.

1. From the droptown menu select Logical Templates
2. Click on Green Plus to Create New, Give a name, select the appropriate Business Group and click on Save
3a. Now click on the Green plus next to Logical Template versions, add the appropriate Tags and supported OS for the application.

3b. Under Cloud Template Mapping select the appropriate Cloud Provider Name and Cloud Template and click on save.

Map Application Services to a vRA reservation policy

1. From the dropdown menu select Deployment Environments and click on Create a Deployment Environment
2. Enter the Name and after the selecting the Cloud Provider from the drop down, automatically all the vRA Reservation Policy field appears. Select the appropriate compute Reservation Policy
